	Biodegradable Small Wares: Our goal at Eastern University is to stay ahead of the curve with offering green plates, cups, and other small wares. Our eventual goal is to switch all of our disposable small wares at the Eagle's Nest, Breezeway, and Jammin Java to ecologically-friendly alternatives. Currently, we are in the process of switching from traditional black foam plates to Green Wave-brand bamboo plates. These new plates do not require cutting down trees or oil in manufacturing, are bio-degradable, and municipally compostable. We are also investigating ecological alternatives for hot cups, cold cups, and other disposables.
	Fair Trade Coffee & Tea: Fair Trade certification empowers farmers and their families to lift themselves out of poverty by investing in their farms and communities, and by paying the farmers a fair wage for their goods. The Eagle’s Nest Café and Jammin Java Coffeehouse both serve exclusively Fair Trade Certified coffees, teas, and espresso. In addition, Fair Trade Certified coffee is available from the Dining Commons. We also support awareness of Fair Trade products through our annual Fair Trade Month promotions every October. We are currently investigating Fair Trade chocolate and other products.
